Assalamu alaykum Agha Sb – I collected some donations in the name of Sadat\\\’s daughter for her wedding, but instead of giving the money to the intended person I used it for my own wedding expenses. I feel very guilty about this and have sincerely asked for forgiveness. The amount was PKR 43,000; I would like to put that money to a good cause as a form of atonement (kafara) to make amends so that I may receive forgiveness from Allah and the Ahl al-Bayt and feel at peace. Please advise what actions I should take as kafara to correct this sin.

As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
We hope this answer finds you in high Islamic spirit.
You are supposed to give the same amount of money to the same family for the wedding. However, if they no longer need it for the wedding or it has already taken place, you may give it to another needy Sayyid family for a wedding, since the funds were collected with the intention of helping a Sayyid for this purpose. There is no kaffara; simply ask Allah (SWT) for forgiveness.
