I live in Lansing Michigan. There are 2 to 3 stores with Muslim shopkeepers who claim they sell halal meat. the only thing we see is meat on the display but do not know which slaughterhouse it comes from. Just because they are Muslims should i trust them?

If you do not know whether they are lying or not then you have to trust them. If you still have doubts then ask them where they purchase the meat from. Then you should call the slaughterhouse to make sure they slaughtered the animal according to Islamic law.
