AsSalaamu Alaikum, I am a new Muslim and have been given many different answers to this question. But are you allowed to take medicine during the day while fasting if I don’t take it with any water/drink.

As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

We hope this answer reaches you in good health and Islamic spirit.

Based on your specific question and information provided.

From the Jurisprudence Perspective:

Fasting should not cause you harm. If it is not allowed/ approved by your physician to take the oral medication before and/or after the fast.

If taking the oral medicine is necessary during the period of fasting, Fasting is not Obligatory ( Wajib) on you.

Once you recover from the illness, only Qadha is obligatory.

For the missed fast(s) due to illness, and this illness continued from Ramadan to the next Ramadan. Qadha is not obligatory. Fidya is paid, approximately 3 US Dollar per missed fast.
