Salam alaikum,
I have been suffering with hashimotos and hyperparathyroidism for many years, I also have 2 young children and struggle with sleep as well as work full time. As a result I struggle with very bad fatigue. I attempt to fast however I struggle to do the bare minimum for my children and also find work very difficult. For this reason I haven\’t been able to fast for a few years.
I had a parathyroidectomy last summer and as my children get older I hope to be able to get better rest, sleep and better hormonal balance (as well as less fatigue). So I hope to be able to fast again next year.
Please could you advise on what I should do? I know there are payments I need to pay, also I don\’t know how should it work for the years I have missed Ramadan?
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
We hope this answer finds you in high Islamic spirit.
If the sickness continues to the next Ramadan then you have to pay Fidya $2 per day.
If it is for the reason of sickness then you pay Fidya if not then you have to pay Kaffarah (for more details tell us the reason for not fasting).
