Asalam. I wanted to know why chess is still considered haram to play when it no longer uses betting. JAK

The Mujtahideen try their best to understand and interpret Quran and Hadith before writing each ruling, Once they find enough evidences and proofs about a ruling, they can’t change any status of that. We can try to find and understand the wisdom behind each ruling but it is not necessary to know the actual reasons of every ruling after we know it is halal or haram according to the Sharia Law. Allah knows the reason and wisdom of that ruling. Same case is about Chess. After interpreting the Quran and Hadith, they consider Chess as Haram, so we trust and follow them.
