As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

From Jurisprudence Perspective: The body and the salive of the cat is ritually pure (Tahir), yet its urine, feaces, and blood are Najis. If there is a few cat hairs (one to three) on a person’s body or cloth, his prayer is in order but if there are more than that, his prayer becomes void, as an obligatory precaution.

Regarding the other issues, Jurisprudence guidelines can’t be mixed with Hygiene, animal to human transferable infections, or any behavioral, inappropriate contact / interaction issues or should we have a pet or not. These you need to inquire into and conduct due diligence and make your decision.
