Assalamu Alaikum,
I would like to ask a question regarding a personal matter in order to know the correct Islamic ruling.
I had a sexual relationship with a woman while she was still legally married to her husband. I fully understand that this was a serious sin, and I sincerely repent for my actions.
Currently, she has been living separately from her husband for about seven months in another country, and she does not wish to continue the marriage. She is intending to seek a divorce.
My question is: if she obtains a valid Islamic divorce and completes her ʿiddah period, would it be permissible for me to marry her according to your ruling?
I would be grateful for your guidance.
Thank you.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
We hope this message finds you in good health and high Islamic spirits.
According to most of our mujtahideen, it is forbidden for a man who commits adultery with a married woman to marry her.
