As-salamu alaykum,
My name is Makenzye Emerson, and I am a revert to Islam. Before embracing Islam, I was a Christian. I am committed to practicing Islam sincerely, and I pray the five daily prayers. However, I would like to deepen my understanding of additional prayers and acts of worship such as Tahajjud, Duha, Ishraq, Istikhara, Hajat, and Tawbah.
Could you kindly guide me on reliable sources or methods to learn about these prayers and how to perform them correctly?
Additionally, I am interested in understanding the significance of the Imams in Shia Islam, especially the importance of Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her). Is her high status primarily because she is the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) or because of her marriage to Imam Ali (peace be upon him), or is there another reason? I am also eager to learn more about Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his return).
Please understand that these questions come from a sincere desire to learn and grow in my faith. I am grateful for any guidance, resources, or explanations you can provide. I want to ensure I access authentic and reliable information rooted in Shia teachings, as most sources I’ve found are Sunni-centric.
Any sources and answers would be appreciated greatly.
