As I understand Zakat is wajib on Gold or Silver coins if they are used as currency. I have 50 old Silver Morgan Dollars which are more of a collectors item at this point and are not used as currency. Am I still obligated to pay zakat on them on their silver weight. Please advise.

We hope this answer finds you in high Islamic spirit.
Since they are not used as a currency in the market, you are not obligated to pay Zakat on them. However, it may be a subject of Khums.
