RABI’UL THANI (also cited as RABI’UL AKHIR)

AL-KHISAL The 4th month of the Islamic lunar (Hijri) Calendar is Rabi’ul Thani, the second spring.
20th Rabi’ul Thani 5 AH, The Prophet SAWW returned triumphant from the Dummatul Jandal campaign. Dummatul Jandal is also the place wherein Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari, a feeble, gullible arbiter chosen by the army of Imam Ali AS against the Imam AS’ advice, was tricked into removing Imam Ali AS from the caliphate and placing Mu’awiyah by the sly Amr Al-‘Aas, Mu’awiyah’s advisor and confidant. (For details: Battle of Siffin in Tarikh Asim Al-Kufi) When the outraged Abu Musa accused Amr Al-‘Aas of betraying their agreement to remove both Imam Ali AS and Mu’awiyah from the caliphate because they fought each other and instead  install Abdullah ibni ‘Umar, Umr Al-‘Aas compared him to donkeys who in the Qur’an are mentioned as only carrying valuable books but not reading them. (Al-Jumua’h : 5). Those who had insisted on Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari’s selection, against Imam Ali AS’ wisdom, now regretted their action and tried to get Imam Ali AS to reverse the decision.

19th Rabi’ul Thani 11 AH, Seyyidah Fatima Zahraa AS, the only daughter of The Prophet SAWW, fell seriously ill from the severe effects of pain when a nailed door fell upon her as her house was being set aflame by the reigning caliph’s henchmen who had surrounded the house of Seyyidah Fatima AS. This the house where The Prophet SAWW used to salute the Ahlul Bayt AS for six months after the revelation of 33:33. The house was set aflame to force Imam Ali AS to give illegitimate bay’ah to the people’s caliph of the Saqifa tradition as opposed to the divine proclamation by The Prophet SAWW of Imam Ali ibni Abi Talib AS as his rightful immediate successor at Ghadeer Al-Khum the previous year.

10th Rabi’ul Akhir 237 AH witnessed the birth of Hadhrat Imam Hassan Al-Askari AS. Imam Hassan Al-Askari AS is our Eleventh Imam, born of Imam Ali Al-Naqi Al-Hadi AS, our Tenth Imam and Seyyidah Hadith AS. Imam Hassan Al-Askari AS saved Al-Islam from being humiliated and Christianity triumphing. A Christian priest who had a bone belonging to one of the prophets raised his hands to the heavens to pray for clouds to gather during a famine that afflicted Samarrah. The Abbasid caliph of the time was at the end of his tethers and had to summon The Imam AS who he had incarcerated on false premises. The Imam AS foiled the ploy of the Christian priest and when the empty-handed priest raised his hands to the heavens to pray for rain it was all in vain. When the Imam AS raised his pure, bare hands, the parched earth and the people and cattle were satiated with a torrent. Similarly, when Ishaq Al-Kindi
challenged The Qur’an, the usurper caliph and his ulamaa cohorts were helpless. Imam Al-Askari AS’ one question simply baffled Ishaq Al-Kindy who burnt his whole manuscript on apparent contradictions in The Qur’an. The Imam AS’ simple question was if Ishaq was sure his interpretation of the verses of The Qur’an were according to the exact meaning intended by The Almighty SWT Who revealed The Qur’an upon The Prophet SAWW. The Qur’an and Ahlul Bayt AS (The Aimmah AS) go together and only The Ahlul Bayt AS of The Prophet SAWW can protect The Qur’an from misinterpretation and misrepresentation. The Prophet SAWW made this fact clear in his Hadith Thaqalain.

On 13 Rabi’ul Thani, 132 AH, the Umayyad Dynasty that began with Uthman bin Affan who Abu Sufyan told to hold onto the caliphate as a child does to a ball collapsed as predicted by The Qur’an. Mu’awiyah ibni Abi Sufyan of course heeded his father’s call and usurped the caliphate and imposed his profligate, licentious, accursed son Yazid ibni Mu’awiyah upon the feeble ummah, cajoling, bribing or threatening them. Yazid the accursed Umayyad perpetrated the massacre of Karbala, the ransacking of The Prophet SAWW’s Mosque and the City of Madinah and sacking of the sacred Ka’ba all during his three-year period of tyrannical (taghuti) rule. Yazid wanted to destroy Imamah, Nabuwwah and Tawheed in that order but failed miserably and today all these are alive and thriving while the accursed usurper is forgotten and condemned by every decent person for his vile deeds. Yazid was repudiated by his own son, Mu’awiyah ibni Yazid when after only forty days after the death of his father when he abdicated saying the caliphate belonged rightfully to the Ahlul Bait AS.

On 14th Rabi'ul Thani in 66 AH Mukhtar Al-Thaqafi staged an uprising against the Umayyad murderers of Karbala. He was incarcerated at the time of the massacre of Karbala and was brought in chains to the court of the accursed Ibni Ziyad, the cruel Governor of Yazid in Kufa. Mukhtar saw Imam Al-Sajjad AS in chains and vowed to avenge the murder of Karbala and he succeeded in his noble mission. He was able to pursue and capture the killers including the Commander of Yazidite forces in Karbala, Umar al-Sa'd al-Waqqas and Ubaidullah ibni Ziyad, Ibn Marjanah.

Earlier, on 1st Rabi’ul Thani 62 AH, the Tawwabun (The penitents) under  Sulaiman Surd Al-Khuzai formed a pact to avenge the massacre of Karbala, but his forces were routed in a battle in 65 AH. Al-Mukhtar had attempted to join them but did not agree with their strategy and went it alone.

On 6th Rabi’ul Thani 145 AH, Baghdad began to be built by Mansur Al-Dawaniki, the Abbasid tyrant who killed the Banu Fatima, The Progeny of Fatima (AS), by burying them alive in the walls of the city of Baghdad or using their blood to mix the concrete that built the city.

On 12th Rabi’ul Thani 2 AH, the command for salaat for the residents as well as
travelers was revealed.

Q: Can the adhaan of Salaatul Jumu’ah be given before time of Salaat sets in?

A: Adhaan of Salaat cannot be given before its due time, only Adhaanul A’lan (Adhaan Announcing imminence of Salaat time) can be given ahead of time as is done in Saudi Arabia in the morning.

Q: Can Khutba of Salaatul Jumu’ah be recited before the time of salaat sets in?

A: Yes, it can.

Q: Is it wajib to be present during the khutba of Jumu’ah for Salaatul Jumu’ah to be valid?

A: No, it is not wajib to be present during the khutbah.

Q: Does the qira’ah and surah in salaatul Dhuhrayn have to be in whispers even in furada?

A: Yes, it makes no difference if one prays in jama’ah or furada.

Q: How long after the time for Dhuhrayn sets in can Salaatul Jumu’ah be delayed?

A: There is no specific time frame established, but if by general consensus (‘urf), a certain lapse
is considered delay, then Salaatul Dhuhr should be performed and not Jumu’ah.

Q: How high can the ma.mumiin be vis-à-vis the Imam in Salaatul Jama’ah?

A: They can be as high as conventionally people regard as reasonable height.

Q: Who are the Akhbari and the Usuli?

A: The Akhbārīs (Arabic: يرﺎﺒﺧا) "Traditionalists" are Twelver Shī‘aMuslims who reject the use of ijtihad
or reasoning in the creation of new laws, and believe only the Qur'an and aḥadīth (prophetic sayings and  recorded opinions of the Imāms) should be used as sources of law. They form a minority within Shī‘a Islam, with Usūlīs making up the majority. Unlike Usūlīs, Akhbārīs do not follow marja‘s who practice
ijtihad. The Akhbaris are described as Traditionalists and the Usuli as Rationalists.

Q: Can one touch the computer screen without wudhoo when the text of The Qur’an is displayed  on it?

A: Yes, since the screen forms a barrier between the person and the actual text of The Qur’an.

Q: What are the conditions applicable to Sajdatu Ssahw, Sajadatu Sshukr and Sajdatul Qur’an?

A: Sajdatu Ssahw is remedial action for any shortcoming in salaat. So, it has to be with wudhoo, facing the qibla, at appropriate place and with prescribed dhikr, immediately after the salaat in question. Sajdatul Qur’an which wajib when four specific verses are recited entails the posture of prostration only and so does Sajdatu Sshukr which for every bounty (ni’mah) ALLAH SWT bestows upon us and of course after every salaat.

Q: Are weaves, hairpieces, braids or wigs made from human hair allowed?

A: They are allowed, though since hairs are considered zinah (adornment) for a woman, it is
necessary to conceal them from ghayr-mahram. As to mas.h (wiping the head during wudhoo),
it has to be done on tahir, natural hair or the scalp.

Q: Can one do mas.h of the head with hair oil on?

A: If hair oil, hair gel etc forms a film that bars the water from penetrating the hair or the scalp
then it must be washed off before ma.sh is done.

AMIRUL MU’MINIIN AS ON THE RIGHTS OF MUSLIMS Amirul Mu.miniin

Imam Ali ibni Abi Talib AS in one of his sermons advised Muslims about the rights they have upon one another. The Imam AS said:

    1. Human beings are brothers. Their brotherhood is based on two foundations. One is that they are brothers to one another for the sake of ALLAH SWT and second for all other reasons. If this  brotherhood is based on the first foundation then there is peace, harmony and understanding. But  if it is based on the second foundation, then it can turn into animosity. Thus, brotherhood and  friendship has to be for the sake of ALLAH SWT.

    2. Brothers must endeavor to admonish one  another whether they like it or not. It is the right of a brother to receive advice from another  brother as well as help. A brother should not ask for recompense for a good deed done for a  brother for that is not nobility. Rewards must be sought from ALLAH SWT.

    3. Brothers should  express the feelings of love and affection towards brothers, bear no animosity, nor fight. Brothers should provide comfort and consolation but not disclose secrets. One must beware of one’s friend a thousand times for one day he may turn to be an enemy and betray the secrets and hold  one to ransom.

    4. Brothers have a right to right response but not personal secrets.

    5. Persons  should be befriended only after their integrity has been proven. A mere doubt or rumor should  not be used to break off a relationship.

    6.  A friend in need is a friend in deed. Thus, a friend should not ignore the need of a friend. Those on good terms may become estranged if their rights are not given to them.

    7.  A person should not hanker after a person who does not show any  respect or care and one must not ignore someone who genuinely wishes to establish friendship.

    PRACTICAL ADVICE:

    1. Whoever oppresses you do not oppress him.

    2.  Whoever betrays you do not betray him.

    3. Whoever accuses you of lying, do not retort.

    4. Whoever praises you does not be elated.  Whoever criticizes you do not get into despair.

ALLAH SWT has placed a lock on all evil deeds and the key to this lock is drinking and even  worse is lying.

ALLAH SWT recommended nine things to The Prophet SAWW:

    1. Sincerity (Inhales).

    2. Justice (‘Adl).

    3. Moderation (I’tidaal).

    4. Forgiveness (‘Afw).

    5. Giving to someone who has taken away from you.

    6. Restore ties (Silatul Rahm)

    7. Meditation and Remembering ALLAH SWT (Dhikr).

    8. Remembering ALLAH SWT in our speech and utterance.

    9.  Deriving lessons from events (‘Ibrah).
