Paid on Eid ul Fitr. A sum must be paid on a person's behalf as well as on behalf of all those who are his dependants. For every individual, the sum paid must be enough to feed one miskeen (needy person ... i.e. if there are 5 people in a family and the sum to be paid that year was $10, then a total of $50 must be paid). The amount collected will be distributed to the poor, on the day of Eid.
